STIFF — Extended Deadline for Student and Debut Films
Student International Film Festival — STIFF invites students and debut filmmakers to submit their films by July 24, 2024.
Submissions for the competitive segment should consist of original works created by students or debut filmmakers in various genres: feature film, documentary film, animated film, and experimental film. All works must not exceed 60 minutes in duration and must be completed after January 1, 2022. The thematic focus of this year’s edition of STIFF is “Escape,” but it is not necessary for films to align with the festival theme. Films must be in English or have English subtitles and are accepted exclusively through the FilmFreeway platform, where all submission rules can also be found.
STIFF awards include Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Film, and Best Animated Film, as well as an Audience Award for Best Film. Special recognitions may be given to outstanding talents.
The Student International Film Festival (STIFF) is the first Croatian international festival dedicated exclusively to student and debut films. It was initiated by the Student Cultural Center of the University of Rijeka and the Filmaktiv Association, aiming to showcase the best of global student film production.
Over ten years, the festival has screened more than 500 feature, documentary, animated, and experimental films from around the world. By providing insights into the work of fellow filmmakers, the goal is to encourage the exchange of ideas and cross-border collaboration in the fields of film, video, and animation.
Admission to the screenings is free to introduce a wider audience to exceptionally high-quality student films from around the world.
STIFF is organized by the Student Cultural Center of the University of Rijeka and the Filmaktiv Association. The 11th edition of the festival will be held from November 21 to 23 in Rijeka.
