11th STIFF: Open call for artworks
International Student Film Festival – STIFF invites artists to submit their works to the international exhibition as part of the supporting programme of the festival.
With this supporting programme, we want to create a space for critical reflection, meeting, education and dialogue with the audience. The exhibition program brings together artists from all over the world whose works further analyze, question and emphasize different layers of the thematic focus of the festival.
You can submit works dealing with the theme of escape, created in different media – from audiovisual media, performances, participatory works, digital works (GIF, memes, NFT, computer graphics, 3D objects, video games, websites, applications, video) to installations, interactive objects and textual works that can be interpreted in a gallery or in open public space.
We invite you to analyze and consider the concept of escape in the broadest possible sense – the need for freedom and change, travel, forced escape, migration, and all methods and reasons for leaving and breaking free from restrictions.
What are we running away from, and how? What are we leaving behind? How do the changes affect us? What are we aiming for if we decide to move away from the current way of life, socially set norms, and familiar environment? Is the escape purely physical? What is the potential of art and artistic expression in challenging times? We are also interested in works through which we will deal not only with the physical, emotional and psychological aspects associated with the concept of escape, but also with the social implications associated with this topic, through which we will emphasize the importance of empathy and solidarity.
With an international multimedia exhibition, we want to bring together different perspectives, experiences and opinions presented through different works of art. How much do we use imagination and fun as abstract methods of escape from reality? We invite you to get out of your daily routine with artworks, shake up reality and current restrictions and rules.

*one person can submit a maximum of two works or one series of works
*artworks should be in optimal resolution
*this is a non-competitive exhibition and no prizes will be awarded
*all artists have the right to apply, regardless of age and formal education
STIFF is organized by the Student Cultural Center of the University in Rijeka and the association Filmaktiv.
The eleventh edition of STIFF will be held from November 21 to 23 in Rijeka.
